And now for the
important news ....

http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | Secretary of State Colin Powell flew to Jerusalem Saturday to try to settle things between Ariel Sharon of Israel and Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinians. It's only half of the much-heralded roadmap to peace. Next on the agenda, Yasser Arafat will fly to Washington to try to settle things between Colin Powell and Don Rumsfeld.

Bill Clinton was finally allowed to join a country club in suburban New York on Friday. It was getting embarrassing. For two years, none of the country clubs would admit him as a member, enhancing his legend as America's first black president.

Sen. Bob Graham taught school Friday in Durham, New Hampshire, at Oyster River High School. He knows what it takes to win. Like any successful Democrat, he spent an hour giving a lecture on civics and three days in the river stocking up on oysters.

GlaxoSmithKline shares fell Wednesday on news their anti- nausea drug Zofran would face generic competition in the U.S. Cost is an issue. Every year the drug industry makes great strides in easing pain, treating disease, and relieving wealth.

Michael Jordan lashed out at the Washington Wizards Thursday for dumping him as team president. He turned down ten million dollars in cash as severance. He said he could not keep a penny of it because that money belongs to the Iraqi people.

Hillary Clinton begins a nationwide book tour in June to promote her memoirs of her White House years. The Democratic nomination is hers for the asking. The New York senator has her husband's support, so she has sewn up the uncommitted vote.

Gary Hart said Wednesday he will not seek the Democratic Party nomination for U.S. president. He misses being on the cutting edge of party policy. There was a time in this country when it was national news whenever Gary Hart changed positions.

The Los Angeles Police announced Thursday that one hundred and fifty LAPD officers have been sent to Baghdad to train the local police. Let's watch the fun. The three great mysteries of the world are Stonehenge, the Bermuda Triangle, and how U.S. authorities in Baghdad expect LAPD training to prevent looting and rioting.
