Everyone has a talent. What is rare is the courage to nurture it in solitude and to follow the talent to the dark places where it leads.

ABOUT MY SUDDEN ABSENCE

[ PLEASE read this large font, but actually short, letter. ]

Late Sunday night, I was taken away by EMS (Hatzolah) to the hospital. During the ride, a close friend, who was just randomly calling, was shocked when I told them where I was.

"Don't get me wrong, chas v'shalom [Heaven forbid]! But you are blessed," he said to my astoundment.

"You need a break; you wanted a break; and now He's darn sure you received one. "

For good measure, they added: "Don't you dare ruin this opportunity - milk it!"

I was told not to minimize my illness. Rather, I should exploit it.

"You are your own boss. Who will know if you are stretching the truth --- even a wee tad?"

The answer is that I and God would. (Not necessarily in that order, of course.)

If I wanted open a comfy business, I'd $tarted a shoe store or a bagelry.

My life goal was/is to "shake-up" the world, if not to in some way actually change it for the better.

And for nearly 3 decades I have!

People of all faiths -- and none -- read JWR to be enlightened, entertained and informed. They appreciate our defense of the values that still make America GREAT.

And that does NOT, especially NOW, happen when one calls in sick, even slightly exaggerated. Even if one DOES deserve an extended break.

I'm publishing this issue immediately after returning home from the hospital for an extended stay.

The religious festival of Shavous, when religious Jews the world over reenact the Revelation at Sinai, starts tonight and, this year, includes the Sabbath.

Despite being ill -- I hope this message was coherent -- I, God Willing, intend to celebrate with my communit(ies) --- including this one.

I'm HONORED and APPRECIATE your caring and compassion,
Binyamin L. Jolkovsky,
Editor in Chief
