And now for the
important news ....

Britain's Tony Blair faced down opponents of military action
with a brilliant speech in the House of Commons. He risked his
political career to do what he thought was right. Congress must
think he is crazier than the leader of North Korea.
The Jerusalem Hotel announced Tuesday it's changed its name
to the George W. Bush Hotel to show unity with America. It's a
nice gesture but a really stupid business move. How many people
check into a hotel for a night of honor and decency?
France offered to send troops to Iraq if Saddam Hussein uses
chemical weapons against coalition forces. No one wants French
troops on the ground. We have already printed surrender
instructions in Arabic and it's too late to print them in French.
Saddam Hussein attended a war cabinet meeting Tuesday in a
general's uniform with a black ascot around his neck. There was a
certain dignity to his wardrobe selection. He figures if he's
going to get his ascot he might as well be in uniform.
The NCAA refused to cancel the Final 64 basketball
tournament Tuesday. They said they will not permit Saddam Hussein
to disrupt our way of life. Americans will never surrender their
one chance every year to openly gamble in the workplace.
Major League Baseball canceled next week's scheduled series
between Seattle and Oakland in Tokyo. It was an order from
Homeland Security. Apparently the CIA got wind of North Korea's
possible plans for a surprise attack during the ballgame and thwarted
Bud Selig's scheme to contract two teams without a lot of haggling.
