Pennsylvanians cheered as nine trapped coal miners emerged Sunday asking for chewing tobacco and beer. It made for dramatic television. Californians stayed up til the wee hours of the morning to see if the miners could survive on that diet.
Senate Democrats are wrestling with the White House all week over provisions in the Homeland Security bill. Racial profiling is now a point of contention. White male CEOs are starting to whisper among themselves that justice means just us.
Joe Lieberman said Monday that Al Gore's message in 2000 misfired with the voters. It certainly did. The Supreme Court didn't interrupt the duck hunting season to hear some Tennessee preppie theorize about the people versus the powerful.
The Treasury Department announced Monday it will have to borrow $76 billion in the third quarter to make ends meet. The stock market wasn't fazed by the news. Investors think that rescue team in Pennsylvania can pull us out of any hole.
