Strength is the capacity to break a chocolate bar into four pieces with your bare hands - and then eat just one of the pieces.

'TODAY WAS THAT DAY'

[THURSDAY'S issue begins after this sidebar. But before going there, PLEASE read this large font, but actually short, letter. ]

I am the son of a Southern Baptist minister. I am a deacon and Sunday School teacher in a Southern Baptist Church. As my pastor would say, I have been Baptist since 9 months before I was born.

I have been a reader of JWR for more years than I can count. One of the talk radio guys in Atlanta (now retired) would post his program notes and would have links to stories and some of those stories were from JWR.

I have long felt a kinship with you just based on your writing and the articles you choose.

I have gained greatly from the different articles you have shared from both Jewish and Non-Jewish scholars, but many of the ones from the Jewish scholars have helped me better understand my Christian heritage.

When I read your appeal a few days ago and how you connected with Christians due to shared morality and strong values, I knew that the kinship I had always felt was true.

I appreciate all that you have done over the years. How you have helped not only grow my faith but my understanding of the beginnings of what became Christianity.

You have helped not only grow my faith but my understanding of the beginnings of what became Christianity.

I am definitely one of those that always intends to give as soon as I read your initial appeal. It moves me, but then life happens, I get caught up in work stuff, and forget. Then I intend to the next day, and next and next, until I eventually hear the desperation in your "voice" and realize I must stop what I am doing and give then. Today was that day.

I am glad you do not cover your work with click bait. I am glad you have your principles and stick with them. We have become a society that does not want to "pay" for anything that is consumable online. It is like we assume that the wonderful writers you share with us do this for free. The monetization of internet content has always been a hard nut to crack.

Keep up the good work. Stick with your guiding principles. Know that there are many that value your work and eventually, hopefully they will hear the desperation and give as well.

Thank you for all you do.

JMcG, Atlanta
