The Creator supplies the bread --- but man must provide the butter.
— Binyamin L. Jolkovsky

Dear Loyal JWRers:

(Today's issue is found directly under this. But PLEASE read this til the end.)

Several times a week, conversations -- electronic ones -- mistakenly get sent to my inbox. Many are terribly personal or tragic.

The others, I respond to. Politely, I suggest that they might need to be sent again --- to the right person.

But sometimes the error is serendipitous. I've gotten notes by mistake (redirected by Heaven?) that fill me with pride; literally make my day.

Last week I received such a note. And I'm so glad I did.

It was from a fellow named Jim to his buddy, Wendell.

Jim is a JWR subscriber. Wendell, at the time, wasn't.

As JWR is a family of sorts, I feel justified in sharing the note with you. I bet that you'll feel the same about it as I did.

Wendell,

Your political leanings and mine are exactly alike, pal !!

Listen up!!!... For several years, I have been subscribing to the JWR, (Jewish World Review) and I really find the articles to be very accurate and concise. No, I do not agree with everything they say, and it would be very unsettling if I did... but in the main, they get it right (IMHO) 99.9% of the time. . . .

Obviously, as a Southern Baptist, I skip all the Jewish-centric things like recipes, holiday preparations and such, but the political commentary and cartoons are truly outstanding. They manage to promote their views without criticism of Christian values or any other peaceful religious group. (Including radical Methodists like YOU!!) In fact, they often DEFEND the rights of Christians in their editorials. Would that we Christians could do as well at that as our friends of the Jewish faith do.

They call a spade a spade and they are not at all PC when they talk about terrorists like the murderous Palestinians who are killing them right at home and the Muslims who are a world-wide threat to everyone/everywhere.

I very seldom make recommendations of this sort, but I think you would enjoy reading this collection which you can subscribe to receive free daily. The Website is safe and they have never shared my Email or contacted me whatsoever.

Give it a try... kick the tires, and I think you will enjoy receiving it every day.

Take care,
Jim

It took me a few moments to process everything Jim wrote.

WOW! I finally said to myself. Here is somebody who "gets it". A reader who understands what makes JWR unique --- an overused term that in this case is actually appropriate.

Somebody who values JWR's values --- what our site stands for.

You and Jim aren't that different. Are you?

I'm going to make this quick. Really.

We've come to the end of another year.

Are you like Jim? Do you feel your life is enhanced by JWR?

Maybe it's the site's intelligence? ("Information" doesn't do justice to what we offer. Or is "wisdom" more like it?)

Have you benefitted from the relationship and parenting advice? The financial and consumer buying tips? Do you like the recipes?

Or do you find a sense of community -- and intellectual ammo -- in the wealth of political opinion pieces?

But --- perhaps most importantly:

Would you feel a loss if JWR were no longer arriving in your inbox? If the answer to that question -- or any of the above -- is "Yes", then you know what you need to do.

We can't -- and won't be able to -- continue publishing without you. Sadly, that's no exaggeration.

I need your help. And know you want to help. Certain of it, actually.

We live hectic lives. I have a tendency to push things off.

Please don't be like me.

The holiday rush is on. If it isn't already, it will be soon. It will take over.

In this season of giving, PLEASE remember JWR --- and what it means to not only you but those less fortunate who'd express their kindness if only they could.

Please make a tax deductible charitable contribution of ANY amount via secure server by clicking here or by making out a check and mailing it to the foundation:

Please note on the "memo line" of your check it is for the Internet educational project.

Don't be embarrassed to send what you may consider a pittance. To JWR, it's a lifeline. Any expression of your gratitude and support will be appreciated, as it is so very much needed.

In gratitude and friendship,

Binyamin L. Jolkovsky
