Jerky Jargon
Psychobabble: 1. Language characterized by the often inaccurate use of jargon from psychiatry and psychotherapy. 2. using language loaded with psychological terminology.

Psychobabble has taken over English conversational language. Of course, anyone over 65 years old (who has been paying attention) knows this to be true. Younger generations just assume that the words and phrases people use today are normal and that it"s the language people have always used. Just another thing the youth are ignorant on.

No one contacts anyone anymore. They "reach out." We don"t have problems. We have "issues." No one sympathizes with a person, they "feel their pain." If you don"t go along with an accepted view, you are said to be "in denial." When a sad event occurs, they say you need to "get closure," so that you can "move on." We don"t work together anymore, we have "synergy."

Other psychobabble buzzwords and phrases include; "dysfunctional," "empowerment," "delusional," "projecting," "get in touch with your feelings," "meaningful relationship," "win-win," "significant other," and "self-exploration." The list goes on and on.

Beyond psychobabble our speech is overrun with politically correct terms and new age definitions for old words. "Fianc" used to be the word exclusively used to describe a person to whom you were engaged to be married. That word has been given a broader meaning, it"s now commonly used as a synonym for "boyfriend" or "girlfriend." I"ve heard people refer to the person they have been living with for years (and have had kids with) as "my fianc."

For years now colleges and universities have had so-called "safe zones" which is nothing more than a way of curtailing free speech and a free interchange of opinions and viewpoints. But Safe Zone sounds a lot nicer than saying No Free Speech Zone. "Hate Speech" is another term used to label any idea or viewpoint which is not in line with the progressive left agenda. By calling it "hate speech" they can shut it down and therefore avoid having to engage in opinions they don"t want to hear.

Changing the meaning of language is what the authoritarian left have been doing for decades. If you"re in support of aborting babies, you"re not "pro-abortion," you"re "pro-choice." See what they did there? They made an ugly life ending procedure sound like a celebration of liberty. Killing an unborn human being isn"t murder, it"s "reproductive health."

Interestingly, it never works the other way. If you decide not to be vaccinated, you"re not being "pro-choice," you"re being a selfish killer. If you believe in free speech, but your free speech differs with the leftist dogma, then you are engaging in hate speech.

Forcibly taking money away from a person who has earned it honestly by working hard is not considered thievery. It"s considered "redistribution of wealth." "Nationalist" has been turned upside down too. It once meant that you were a believer in a strong national government. A patriot. Today the left uses it as a synonym for racist.

And finally, as the Freedom First Press website states: "The most used liberal viral buzzword in 2020 was not likely a "word" at all. But an acronym." BLM (Black Lives Matter) is probably the most misunderstood term in the past 50 years. It has been adopted by just about every major business, sporting organization, politician, media outlet, and the general public. Most people think BLM is a wonderful group working to help the black community.

"But it"s a smokescreen. A colossal misnomer. BLM is NOT about protecting the welfare of ALL black lives. It"s a liberal mantra. A viral buzzword. Used as a weapon. Anyone who dares attempt to rebut those chanting such a virtuous slogan MUST be a "racist" or better yet, a "white supremacist." The founders of BLM self-identify as "trained Marxists." Their end game is Marxism, NOT the welfare of black lives. Therefore, it is a great mirage."Ê

Thanks to a compliant media and corporate cowardice, BLM has raked in tens of millions of dollars which has gone directly into the pockets of their Marxist leaders. Our culture has so completely wrapped itself around that phrase that it is now virtually impossible to convince people that they"ve been had. Very frustrating.

All of this was predicted over 70 years ago by George Orwell in his novel, "Nineteen Eighty-four." He first used the phrases "thought police," "Newspeak," and "Doublethink." He wrote of "Big Brother" twisting words and phrases which alter their true meanings. The book was once considered "social science fiction." For anyone who reads it today, it is no longer a fiction but a sad commentary of our current situation in the United States of America.
