What The Heck???

It's been one of those "what the heck is going on?" weeks. To start with, Donald Trump has been quoted as putting down, not just Ron DeSantis, but the entire state of Florida! Yes, that's right, the state he lives in. The Wall Street Journal editorial page refers to a statement put out by the former president which says in part that DeSantis has a record of misery and despair which has "left a wake of destruction all across Florida."

His statement has links to news reports and left-leaning studies that say Florida is unaffordable and unsafe, with low teacher pay, a failing educational system, a failing medical environment, and more. Why is Donald Trump throwing in with the left? Just to knock DeSantis out of the presidential race? He hasn't even declared he's running. And everyone who knows anything, knows that Florida under the leadership of Ron DeSantis has been a tremendous success story. But by the way, if the former president thinks the place is so bad why does he still live there? This is a real head scratcher.

Another crazy story was the news on Monday that Tucker Carlson has left Fox News, evidently forced out by management. He found out he was being let go only 10 minutes before the network made the announcement, according to one source. Tucker was the highest rated prime time host on all of cable news. He clearly was a key driver of Fox's ad business and by far the most popular commentator on the station. His following was enormous.

There are various speculations on exactly what drove Fox to literally cut off their right arm by firing Tucker. Some say it is all due to the Dominion law suit against Fox in which the company settled by paying out many tens of millions to the voting-machine company. Some say it was because of the Jan. 6th videos at the Capitol that Tucker ran on his program.

Others claim he was let go simply because the sons of Rupert Murdoch (who tend to be more left of center politically) call the shots at the station and have been looking for a way to get Carlson off the air. The real story as to how and why this happened will no doubt be made clear in the weeks to come.

Meanwhile Joe Biden released a video of himself declaring he will be running for a second term as president. The taped video was released at 6:AM eastern, 3:AM pacific. Most candidates make their announcements in prime time. In Biden's case, it's like he did it in the dark of night hoping no one would see it. I guess it makes sense to keep a low profile since the Biden crime family continues to be exposed as the crooks and liars they are, with more info on their dirty business dealings coming out on a daily basis.

By the way, recent polls show that Biden's favorability numbers are in the tank, to put it mildly. Most people, including many Democrats, just don't want to see Biden run for a second term. When your own party doesn't want you, it's pretty bad.

Our foreign policy and prestige on the world's stage continues to go down in flames under Biden's leadership. Once again, as in Afghanistan, we have retreated from a country and left Americans behind. Over the weekend Biden evacuated under 100 personnel from out U.S. embassy in Khartoun, Sudan because of escalating violence between two rival groups. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday claimed that only "some dozen" Americans out of an estimated 16,000 who may still be in Sudan have expressed interest in leaving.

Really?

How can he be so sure. 16,000 American citizens are a lot. How could anyone possibly guess how many of them aren't interested in getting out? And, okay, let's say it's only a dozen or two that want to leave, why are we leaving ANY Americans?

Just when you think things can't get any weirder, it always does in these modern times. A good rule of thumb is, don't depend on anything making sense because it won't. Not in today's world. We live in the Age of Crazy.

Get used to it.
