Federal Bureau of the Insidious
By the time this piece appears on JWR there will have been, I am sure, many others who have written on and spoken about the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue hostage standoff last week in Colleyville, Texas.

The point of my column is not to bring you breaking news or even to shed new light on what transpired last weekend, but to keep the situation alive, to make sure in our age of short attention spans, even shorter memories, and constantly changing news cycles we don't forget.

And there is much not to forget. We must never forget that Jewish anti-Semitism is alive throughout our country and the world. Unbelievably, much of it is being fostered and propagated in American universities and on college campuses. Yes, there still exists white nationals, call them skinheads or neo-Nazis, that are Jew-hating bigots.

But a much bigger threat to Jews today, in my opinion, are the radical Islamists along with the Marxist Left Democrats and media who are their useful idiots. The leftists in our country are unabashedly anti-Israel and anti-Jewish. Case in point is what went down in Collyville.

Malik Faisal Akram, was identified as a British national by the media. True, he was a British national but they played down or simply never reported that he was an Islamic terrorist whose goal was to take Jewish hostages in exchange for the release of Aafia Siddiqui, a terrorist known as Lady al-Qaeda, in prison for the attempted murder of U.S. soldiers.

The FBI stonewalled who the suspect was. Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSarno declined in a news conference after the standoff's conclusion to share more information about the identity of the suspect, saying an investigation with "global reach" is underway. A spokeswoman for the FBI's Dallas division, Katie Chaumont, said early Sunday that she was not yet aware whether the bureau would be investigating the episode as a hate crime.

It wasn't until it came out from other sources that the FBI finally had to acknowledge that this was a hate crime targeting Jewish people. The suspect was heard saying he chose a synagogue because the United States "only cares about Jewish lives"

The ten-hour standoff, thankfully, had a happy ending with the four hostages (including the rabbi) escaping with their lives and without injury. The terrorist was killed. But the story of how it all ended, the story that was told by authorities, differed considerably with the facts as related by the rabbi and the other hostages.

According to the FBI, first one hostage was released and later the other three were released. But that isn't the way it happened at all. The last three were not "released," they escaped thanks to the rabbi who created the situation in which the hostages were able to make a break for it. In an interview the following day on network television, the rabbi explained what transpired. In his own words, "The last hour of the standoff, he (the terrorist) wasn't getting what he wanted. It didn't look good. We were terrified. When I saw an opportunity .. the exit wasn't too far away. I threw a chair at the gunman and I headed for the door."

Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker went on, "When I saw an opportunity where he wasn't in a good position, I made sure that the 2 gentlemen who were still with me, that they were ready to go... I told them to go. I threw a chair at the gunman and I headed for the door, and all three of us were able to get out."

The top FBI bureaucrats have been shielding the Democrats for years. It first came to light during the phony Russia investigations of President Trump and it hasn't stopped. We simply can no longer take what the FBI says as fact. We cannot assume that what the FBI does is always in our best interests as a nation either. The deep state progressives are too deeply imbedded in the bureau. Don't trust the media. Don't trust the bureaucrats.

This too should not be forgotten.
