WE'RE NOW 50% THERE. HELP US REACH OUR GOAL.

If I wrote that, would those who've adamantly refused to help so far, finally do so?

Well, we aren't anywhere near that amount. And this not a trick. So, PLEASE don't stop reading.

As I see it, when it comes to fundraising, there are two types of folks. There are those who will immediately help. Then, there are those who simply won't.

There are reasons why each stakes out their respective position, of course.

Despite there being two types of folks, that doesn't mean the two groups are divided equally. Far from it.

Those who respond immediately are much easier to asses. Most likely these "immediate responders" are in a better financial situation.

But just as likely is they fully grasp the impact of not only of the cause needing support, but also their support of that cause.

They also likely have a highly refined sense of gratitude for what that cause does. Either for themselves, others or both.

But why is it that 99% (give or take a fraction of a percent) refuse to participate?

Yes, it could very well be financial. But is it, really?

At this point, during one of our slowest resource raisers ever, I've asked for "something, anything". And I mean that quite literally.

No, I don't believe the reason is financial. Not when a $10- a-year donation to JWR otherwise won't buy you a week's worth of newspapers or more than a few cups of coffee.

It's clearly something else.

I think there are two others reasons: Those who don't give think that those who do are "suckers". Also, they feel risking a donation to JWR is simply not worth it. After all, the site might well fold.

As I said a few paragraphs above, those "suckers", who are JWR's lifeblood, have a highly refined sense of gratitude. They believe in what the site does. They know without them it won't survive. They understand their impact. Instead of helping to bring about JWR's demise, they help to keep it alive and thriving.

They should be proud of their sacrifice -- to whatever degree -- and investment. They should be gratified that it's they who've accomplished what so many, apparently, could care less about but, nonetheless, gain from.

JWR has lasted more than two decades because of them.

All loyal JWRers are indebted to them! Thank you.

It's now time -- in these last hours of this resource raiser -- to have faith and stand with a site that's among the oldest non-corporate owned ones on the web. You shouldn't be abandoning ship.

Your impact makes a difference. USE IT.

And soon -- very soon -- I will be reveal something that will make you, the loyal JWR sustainers, happy and proud!

Hopefully, that will include many FORMER non-responders.

All expressions of support are tax-deductible. They can be made through our secure online site or by making out a check and mailing it to the sponsoring foundation (Keren Yehoshua V'Yisroel/JWR) -- marked in the "memo section" for "Internet Education Project" -- at:
