Heads should roll
http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | Liberal Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi wants heads to roll in the Bush administration. The San Francisco congresswoman claims that the president's miscalculations in postwar Iraq have cost Americans hundreds of lives and billions of dollars. Now, in the words of Yogi Berra, "If it sounds like deja vu all over again, there's a reason." That's because Democrats have been attacking our commander in chief for over a year now, criticizing him for the buildup to the war, and waiting until Americans got in harm's way to attack the Pentagon's war plans. Leading liberal media outlets even jumped in to kick the president around and claimed two weeks into that war that our military plans were doomed to fail on the battlefield. "The New York Times" even used the word quagmire. And a few weeks later, leftists apologize for Saddam and shake their heads in wonder. And they were wondering how Rummy and his generals pulled off a victory in the battlefield in less than a month. Some choked on their words for a short while. But, all too soon, the attacks started again. And they've continued steadily, until Pelosi's call for blood yesterday at a Capitol Hill press conference. Well, the minority leader and I do agree on one thing: Heads should roll. And it should be the heads of those politicians who opposed the liberation of Iraq and who have done everything in their power to fight the president in his war on terror. And, as the old saying goes, "I think Americans will remember come next November."
