The New York Yankees host the Boston Red Sox Sunday night.
The season begins under a cloud of suspicion over steroid use. By
the time the home run record is returned to the Maris family it
will have made more wrong turns than Charlie Sheen.
Indianapolis was the site of an ugly debate Wednesday over a
proposed law to require voters to show photo ID at the polls.
Courts won't uphold this law. It's plainly discriminatory to
require the voters to be more truthful than the candidates.
The Foundation for Child Development said Tuesday teens have
drastically cut drug use and pre-marital sex. Many attribute the
moral progress to abstinence programs. Others say the teens are
just rebelling against their Baby Boomer parents.
Congress frightened Hollywood by threatening to make cable
television subject to the same indecency rules as broadcast
networks. Everybody knows what it takes to sell shows. In today's
climate the Andy Griffith Show would be called No Sex and No City.
Fidel Castro became furious Monday when Forbes named him the
world's richest dictator. They say he's worth six hundred million
dollars. He said everything belongs to the Cuban people and he's
just watching it for them until they make bail.
U.S. Congressman Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island announced
Tuesday he will not run for U.S. senator from Rhode Island. The
state of Rhode Island was founded on the principle of tolerance.
It's where Kennedys can get elected when all else fails.
Boy Scouts former official Doug Smith pleaded guilty in
Dallas Wednesday to possessing child pornography. It's another
black mark for the organization. Michael Jackson left the Boy
Scouts fifteen years ago after he developed a pack a day habit.
