President Bush went on world television Sunday and called
the Iraqi election a victory over terrorism. There is still
seething anger in some areas. Hollywood will move to Australia if
President Bush turns out to be right about something.
The White House expressed joy over the high voter turnout in
Iraq Sunday. It was historic. The election in Iraq was held on the
same date King Charles was beheaded by the Puritans so either way the
Republicans were going to have cake and tea.
The Pentagon allowed cameras to cover the election in Iraq
at only five polling places to ensure happy faces on the news.
They underestimated the enemy. Later that day Barbara Boxer went
on CNN without make-up and claimed she had been poisoned.
Iraqis voted for slates of candidates on the ballot Sunday
and not individual names. The candidates chose to remain anonymous
for a good reason. You never know when the citizens of Iraq are
going to vote to make Saddam Hussein the Comeback Kid.
Ted Kennedy became the first senator to call for withdrawal
from Iraq Friday by announcing that it's time for a phased pullout
of coalition troops. He was hoping to bring everyone on board by
breaking the ice. It always works on the yacht.
Planned Parenthood president Gloria Feldt resigned
unexpectedly Thursday. She gave no plans and the organization
wasn't ready with a successor. There was just the standard
statement that she's leaving in order to spend more time with her dogs.
