Can McCain grow an economic brain?

By Dave Weinbaum

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | As democrats repeat trancelike, "We can't drill our way out of this. We can't drill our way out of this," the "Wizard of Oz's" Dorothy comes to mind. Wearing the red ruby slippers she won by dropping a house on the wicked witch of the East, Dorothy closed her eyes and clapped her heels together while chanting, "There's no place like home. There's no place like home."

Survival sends us to the lowest denominator of common sense

Last month, the Dem mantra was, "The war is lost." Guess that phony notion was buried under the house that Petraeus led US and Iraqi troops dropped on al-Qaeda. Now Pelosi, Reid, Obama, et al, have placed a new canard in front of the American people with an oath of crude defeatism. Further exasperating democratic windbags will be the just reported deal that the Iraqi government is signing with four western oil companies. The Iraqi war doesn't look much like defeat if that bears fruit, along with the thrashing of al-Qaeda and the potential of democracies springing up in the Middle East, does it?

Dorothy had more cojones than any of the current democratic wimps. She fought her way to victory over NBA caliber live trees, a poppy field OD, flying monkeys, and an H2O challenged witch. And she did it with a ragged coalition:

And while we're talking survival, John "Anwar" McCain has finally been pushed, probably kicking and screaming, into the off shore riggers union, though he hasn't quite gone all the way to the light of Anwar crude and Rocky Mountain shale oil extraction.

Somebody must have slapped some supply and demand knowledge upside his head. I think his Sierra Club card is about to be revoked…a sure sign of hope we can believe.

Joining the drill off shore crude brood is Florida Governor Charlie Crist; scoring untold points in his audition to make the cast of the whitest maned presidential ticket since our forefathers wore wigs.

Do they teach red herrings at Harvard?

Today our president urged a democratic congress, one that had promised the American people lower gas prices when elected to control in 2006, end the moratorium on off-shore drilling. Democrats responded by bleating evil oil has enough leases to find their dastardly fuel and if they don't watch out the Dem controlled congress will steal the oil industry from its' rightful owners, the stockholders.

According to Senator Diane Feinstein, the government can't even run their own senate cafeteria. Besides the cruddy food, they're losing millions in taxpayer's money.

We KNOW we have billions of gallons of oil, in Anwar and Rocky Mountain shale, and other banned off shore areas. China, backed by Cuba is now drilling closer to our shore than congress will allow our own energy companies.

We have a known 110 year crude supply based on current usage. Democrats are demanding oil companies drill needle in the haystack areas where oil is askance and expense is plentiful. Every time they open their mouths democrats prove they want the American people to suffer, just so they'll vote them more power.

When asked why he robbed banks, Willie Sutton said, "That's where the money is." Why won't democrats let the energy companies' drill where known oil is?

It's enough to drive the poor Munchkins back to the Lollypop guild.

Never give power to those that speak eloquent nonsense

Americans are no longer buying the red herrings Democrats offer. Four dollar a gallon gas with the prospect of eight dollar a gallon fuel has thrown the majority of liberals, much less independents and conservatives, into the "drill now" crowd. In fact 68% of America want to begin drilling off shore. I suspect that number isn't going down anytime soon.

Auntie Em and Dorothy ain't havin' any of it. They're voting for McCain, even if Obama's a Kansas bred Wiz.

And that goes for Toto, too. .
