Jewish World Review Sept. 19, 2013/ 15 Tishrei, 5774 It Isn't Easy Being Green and Truthful By Greg Crosby
Specifically, the draft report says that "equilibrium climate sensitivity" (ECS)-eventual warming induced by a doubling of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which takes hundreds of years to occur-is "extremely likely" to be above 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit), "likely" to be above 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.4 degrees Fahrenheit) and "very likely" to be below 6 degrees Celsius (10.8 Fahrenheit). In 2007, the IPPC said it was "likely" to be above 2 degrees Celsius and "very likely" to be above 1.5 degrees, with no upper limit. Since "extremely" and "very" have specific and different statistical meanings here, comparison is difficult. Most experts believe that warming of less than 2 degrees Celsius from preindustrial levels will result in no net economic and ecological damage. So the new report is effectively saying (based on the middle of the range of the IPCC's emissions scenarios) that there is a better than 50-50 chance that by 2083, the benefits of climate change will still outweigh the harm.
All of which means that global warming is minimal and actually BENEFICIAL to the earth and its inhabitants. So there. But the environmentalists can still take heart in all the good work that their alternative energy windmills are doing. As reported by the Associated Press, a new study by government scientists says wind energy facilities have killed at least 67 golden and bald eagles in the last five years, but the number could be much higher. The research represents one of the first tallies of eagle deaths attributed to the nation's growing wind energy industry. A total of 85 eagles were killed at wind farms since 1997, the study concludes, but most of those occurred in 2008-2012. Most deaths - 79 - were golden eagles. Good job, environmental Nazis. While the birds are protected by federal law, the Obama administration has yet to file criminal charges against a wind energy company for killing any eagles. Don't hold your breath waiting for that since Obama is in bed with the environmentalists. Besides, it isn't politically correct to point out anything negative on windmills. They are a protected species of the Left. And that reminds me, here's an interesting quote sent to me by a friend. It was translated into English from an article appearing in the Czech Republic as published in the Prager Zeitung (Newspaper) on April 28, 2011. "The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of idiots such as those who made him their president."
