When you know what you are willing to die for, then you will know what to live for.
— Jewish saying

'I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE A ONE-PERCENTER.'

[TUESDAY'S update is below. PLEASE read what follows til the end. It's short.]

So wrote a reader yesterday.

There was one of those symbols following the sentence that, if you crane your head, you'd notice was intended to denote a smiley face.

However, MMD of Weatherford, OK immediately became serious.

He continued: "Actually, that's kind of depressing. Hopefully I'll soon just be a fifty-percenter, or more, as others start to pledge support."

From your keyboard, to His "ears," MMD.

I am positive -- in general, but all the more so in regard to the fundraising drive -- that my readers who gain from JWR as often as five-times-a-week or as limited as once, value the site enough to chip in . . . something.

Think that even a pittance can't make a difference?

That failed socialist candidate, Bernie What's-His-Name, managed to keep his campaign afloat based on donations of minimal amounts.

MMD referred to the situation as "depressing". It most-certainly is.

A one-percent response to anything means: 99% of folks just don't care.

Now, you and I both know that's not the case with JWR. Because if it so, it's not just "depressing". Rather, it's beyond repair.

To:

Those good hearted folks who want to show their appreciation but were distracted;

And

Those cautious individuals who purposely waited to see what others would do ...

Now is the time to act.

Over-spent because of the holidays? You can divide your expression of kindness by the month or even the quarter.

Sure, I'd be thrilled if 50% of my readers responded, per MMD's wish. I know it ain't gonna happen. But what about 5%?

That can happen.

Let's make it happen.

In gratitude and friendship for your readership and support,
Binyamin L. Jolkovsky,
Editor in Chief
