People's good deeds are used by the Eternal as seeds for planting trees in the Garden of Eden: thus, each of us creates our own Paradise.
— Mezricher Magid

OK, NOW I'M WORRIED

[Today's issue is below. PLEASE read what follows til the end. It's short.]

Most importantly, I'd like to offer my heartfelt thanks to the roughly 600 people out of the nearly 100,000 subscribed who've expressed their kindness and gratitude.

But if I may be so blunt: I'm really worried now.

In years past, I'd begin our annual fundraiser the day after Thanksgiving. For about a month, I'd explain daily -- or every other day -- what it's like to run JWR alone, without a coporation's funding. The investing of one's all -- days, nights, weekends (even when horribly tired and seriously ill); often missing must-go-to family events -- for an ideal that may not last til the next year.

But readers began to complain. "Will it ever stop!?" some would ask --- and then threaten to unsub. They didn't, of course.

Apparently, NPR can appeal endlessly (despite its already guaranteed tens of millions in tax-payer funding) but JWR can't literally beg for survival resources.

THIS YEAR I made what I thought was a logical assesment: Good natured and gracious folks will always be good natured and gracious folks.

In short: Why nudge longer than I must if I risk alienating folks.

Looks like I miscalculated. BIG time.

And I suspect this is the problem --- time.

People are busy. Technology has made our lives more complicated, if easier. We are always "on."

And our time is more taken than ever.

Things we want to do often remain undone.

PLEASE spend a few moments -- precious moments, to be sure -- and do what I'm certain you want to do.

Partner with JWR.

Help guarantee JWR continues to provide you with the quality material you derive benefit from.

Your expression of kindness need not be a lot to make a difference.

Neither must it be all at once, either.

You can do so:
Once a year
Once a month
Or quarterly.

But please do so today.

I've managed to keep JWR surviving and thriving (becoming better) because we are partners.

That partnership can't -- and won't -- survive without you.

We all should be worried.

PS: All expressions of kindness and gratitude are tax-deductible. They can be made through our secure online site or by making out a check and mailing it to the sponsoring foundation -- marked in the "memo section" for "Internet Education Project" -- at:
