Life is simple --- people are complex.
— Rabbi Mendel Kaplan

WHAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW

(Today's articles/toons links are below. But PLEASE read this.).

JWR depends upon you, our readers. Your kindness allows us to spread the ideas and values you hold dear online in the United States and around the world. Those ideas wind up in other media, books (click here to be impressed), term papers, sermons, hand outs etc.

JWR is published by me alone --- without staff (I joke that they're on "permanent vacation") and without any corporate backer.

In fact, the site -- launched in December, '97 -- is among the oldest surviving non-corporate sites on the web.

In order to stay afloat, our "executive offices" are in my basement. My "CEO setup" is a breakfast table chair and a computer stand made from a Home Depot kit. My phone rests on the Formica counter of a sink nearby.

So why, pray tell, do I so desperately need your help?

Because even running a site on a shoe-string budget still requires A LOT of expenses.

It takes resources for, among other things:

Securing licensing rights to articles and imagery (photos and toons)

Web hosting

E-mail blasts with guaranteed delivery (The cheapo way we used to do it failed miserably)

Site maintenance and development

Needed software

I can go on but I think you get the idea.

I need your help. Really, I do.

You appreciate JWR. Imagine if it was no longer here.

The holiday season is still upon us. That means extra expenses. I get that.

However, we have in place a secure server set up where, if need be, you can divide your tax-deductible donation by month, quarter or annually --- through credit card, debit or PayPal.

PLEASE help.

I'm certain you want to but have been busy.

I'm certain that there are more than 700 people who care.

In the spirit of the season,
Binyamin L. Jolkovsky,
Editor in Chief

PS: If you prefer to sustain JWR by conventional mail, you can do so by making a tax deductible charitable donation to the foundation:

Keren Yehoshua V'Yisroel/JWR
127 Columbia Boulevard
Waterbury CT 06710

Tax ID: 22-3209160

Please note on the "memo line" of your check it is for the Internet educational project.

I'm certain that together we'll be able to guarantee another year of JWR's valuable work.
