Islamists ‘Celebrate’ Christmas

Another Christmas, another slaughter of Christians by members of the so-called "religion of peace." The Boko Haram, a "radical Muslim sect" as the Associated Press puts it, claimed credit for bombing a Nigerian Catholic church on Christmas, killing 35 and wounding 52. What do the Boko Haram want? A sect spokesman calling himself Abul-Qaqa offered this in an interview with The Daily Trust, the newspaper of record across Nigeria's Muslim north. "There will never be peace until our demands are met," he said. "We want all our brothers who have been incarcerated to be released, we want full implementation of the Sharia system and we want democracy and the constitution to be suspended."
Any surprises here? Only one. It is the idea that slaughtering Christians constitutes radicalism. Webster's third definition of the word "radical" defines it as "marked by a considerable departure from the usual or the traditional." This is the Boko Haram's second slaughter of Christians on Christmas. Last year they took credit for a series of Christmas Eve bombings that left at least 32 dead and 74 wounded.
And lest anyone think that the sect's taste for blood is a "holiday thing," it should be noted that they followed last year's Christmas Eve attack with an Aug. 26 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in the Nigerian capital city of Abuja, that killed 24 people and wounded 116 others. They followed that atrocity with a series of attacks on November 4th, killing more than 100.

But I'm not being fair singling out the Boko Haram. 52 Catholics were slaughtered by al-Qaeda at a church in Baghdad, Iraq in 2010. Louis Sako, Chaldean archbishop for the city of Kirkuk, said that 57 churches and houses of worship in Iraq have been attacked since the U.S. went to war in the country in 2003. More than 900 Christians have been killed and more than 6,000 wounded. And in Egypt, 24 Coptic Christians were killed and more than 200 wounded last October. Last April 1,000 Christians were slaughtered at the Salesian Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus mission in Duekoue, Ivory Coast, by Muslim troops.
Are such killings a considerable departure from the usual or traditional? That is precisely the central argument of our time, yet it is filtered through the lens of a political correctness so suffocating that even after 13 American soldiers were killed at Fort Hood by Islamic terrorist Nidal Hasan, former U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey was more worried about "diversity" becoming a casualty than the actual casualties themselves. This was followed up by the administration's elimination of terms such as "Radical Islam," "terrorism" and "Jihadist" from national security documents — and topped off this month when the Fort Hood killings were categorized as "workplace violence."
Yet that still isn't enough PC-addled accommodation. On December 22nd, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced that the Department of Defense will begin allowing Muslim and Sikh students who participate in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) to wear Islamic head scarfs (hijabs) or a turbans while participating in the program. "The Army prides itself in being a diverse organization, comprised of individuals from many faiths and religions. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention," wrote Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Larry Stubblefield.
Thus the definition of another word is rendered moot: uniform.
The White House released a statement condemning the latest violence in Nigeria. "We condemn this senseless violence and tragic loss of life on Christmas Day. We offer our sincere condolences to the Nigerian people and especially those who lost family and loved ones. We have been in contact with Nigerian officials about what initially appear to be terrorist acts and pledge to assist them in bringing those responsible to justice," it said.
What didn't it say? "We condemn this senseless violence — perpetrated by Islamists."
And as long as the American left controls the national dialogue, via the White House, its media cheerleading squad, and the long-compromised halls of American academia, such statements never will. That brings us to a disturbing realization: ten years of unrelenting Islamic-perpetrated violence — following the slaughter of nearly 3000 Americans on 9/11 — still hasn't revealed the utter bankruptcy of political correctness with respect to Islamic terrorism.
