The losers in the California recall election will be California's voters
http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | Just when you think things can't get any worse in California politics, Gray Davis comes along and proves you wrong. The man who's been accused of puke politics by his own Democratic attorney general has once again ended one of his campaigns in the gutter. This time, Davis, with the help of "The L.A. Times" and ABC News, is trying to save his political career by riding the wave of Arnold's sex and Nazi stories. But it didn't work, nor did the desperate attempts of the hapless hypocrites who currently run America's feminist movement. As "New York Times" columnist Maureen Dowd wrote: "Feminism died in 1998, when Hillary allowed henchlings and the Democrats to demonize Monica as an unbalanced stalker. Surely what's good for the Comeback Kid is good for the Terminator." Meanwhile, the same Republican Party that passed judgment on Bill Clinton's behavior is strangely quiet when it comes to Arnold's past, despite the fact that their candidate is now, in effect, claiming that he mauled women so often, that he can't even remember specific attacks. Now, this weekend, Arnold told Peter Jennings "What is important is that I cannot remember what was happening 20 years ago, 15 years ago, but some of the things sound like me." I agree with him that it is important that he can't remember specific instances of abuse. Now, you would hope-your candidate molested a woman without her consent and, if he did so-you would hope, if he did so, that it would register somewhere in his conscious memory. I don't pass judgment on anybody's personal life, other than my own. G-d's only qualified for the job of judging others. But, as a voter, if I were going into the voting booth I would've thought long and hard before supporting either Arnold Schwarzenegger, who still says he can't remember the specific instances of abusing women, and Gray Davis, who has ended this campaign once again in the gutter, because, from where I am standing neither of them look like they are fit to serve the people of California.
