And now for the important news ....
By Argus Hamilton
President Bush named John Roberts to the Supreme Court
Tuesday, ignoring his wife's plea for a woman. Instead he chose a
man who once represented the Playboy Channel. Democrats will be
forced to vote for him just out of professional courtesy.
President Bush said Tuesday he considered judges from every
walk of life for his Supreme Court pick. It was a difficult
choice. He wanted to reflect racial diversity in the appointment
so he chose a white guy in a black suit with a red tie.
Alan Greenspan asserted Tuesday that high oil prices are not
a threat to the U.S. economy. When was the last time he paid at
the pump? Vacation travel is so expensive this summer it is
cheaper to stay home and tip every third person you see.
Australian leader John Howard and President Bush discussed
the War on Terror at the White House. There is American concern
about Australia's commitment. Any nation that gave us Russell
Crowe can't be asked often enough whose side they're on.
Jose Padilla's lawyer asked a Chicago judge Tuesday to
charge the dirty-bomb terror suspect or set him free after three
years in detention. He's an American citizen who legally changed
his name to Ibrahim. He was born with a Hispanic name but changed
it to Arabic so he could cross the U.S. border without arousing suspicion.
U.S. Congressman Tom Tancredo said Monday the U.S. should
bomb Muslim holy sites if terrorists attack a U.S. city with
nuclear weapons. He said what Americans are secretly thinking.
There's got to be a faster way to get that oil out of the ground.
Private Lynndie England last week decided to plead innocent
in her Abu Ghraib prison abuse court martial. It's all about a
clash of cultures. What the Geneva Convention calls humiliating a
naked prisoner, she calls trying to have a relationship.
