Burying an Iraqi myth
http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com |
Saddam Hussein's sons will soon be
buried. And along with their corpses, we'll also
be burying the myth that Iraqi thugs can
continue eluding the long arm of American
justice.
Along with their corpses, we'll also be burying
the myth that Iraqi thugs can continue eluding the long arm
of American justice. Even as liberal reporters and
Democratic presidential candidates were whining that
America's troops were becoming impotent, our men and
women in uniform were quietly going about the business of
freeing the Iraqi people from the brutal grip of Saddam
Hussein and his tyrannical reign.
Along with the Iraqi people, you can be sure that
American troops will also be uplifted by today's news. For
months now, they have been hearing from the chattering
classes in America and Europe how they were not up to
fighting the war, how they were not up to winning the war,
and how they were not up to the task of securing the peace.
Iraq has moved closer to a time when its
people can live in a nation free of tyranny and free of fear.
And make no mistake of it, the death of Saddam's sons will
also embolden other Iraqis to come forward with
information that will lead American G.I.s to their top target.
And that's the head of Saddam Hussein.
Now, that may not be good for the president's liberal
critics, but it's great news for the people of America and
great news for the people of Iraq.
