The U.N. and gun control
http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com |
Remember the old commercials for
Reese's Peanut Butter cups? You know, the two
great tastes that go great together? Well, our
friends at the U.N. are launching a plan that
combines two lousy ideas, and the result would
be bad news for law abiding Americans.
Few institutions have fallen in the American
public's eyes more than the United Nations. The
international organization, which we keep afloat with our tax
dollars, is more unpopular than ever following its
anti-American actions leading up to the Gulf War. U.N.
diplomats turned a blind eye to human suffering in Iraq, and
instead played apologist for Saddam Hussein and his gang
of thugs.
But what's new? The United Nations also ignored the
slaughter of 2 million Sudan Christians and 1 million
Rwanda citizens in the 1990's.
So if the U.N. bureaucrats are not trying to stop
genocidal dictators like Saddam Hussein, what exactly are
they doing? How about trying to launch a plan to enact
global gun control? You heard right: Gun control that would
impact Americans living at home and abroad.
Like the U.N., gun control has lost support from
Americans in recent years. The tide has turned so sharply
against new gun control measures, that Al Gore's campaign
was virtually silent on the issue. It seems Gore didn't want
to offend hunters in vote-rich states like Pennsylvania,
Michigan and Florida.
Whether U.N. bureaucrats like it or not, there are
some of us flat-earthers who actually believe we should
follow America's Bill of Rights and the 2nd Amendment,
instead of kowtowing to Kofi Annan's left-wing agenda.
Gun control and the U.N. Two bad ideas, which sound
even worse together.
