Totally Unworthy Liberal Icons

By Alicia Colon

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | There was a time when we would honor symbols of excellence that had some significant achievements that deserved our adulation. Whether it be enormous talent, superior intelligence, political or business success, etc. there would be something in the makeup of one's character that generated praise. I am having a very difficult time figuring out now why so many liberal icons come up short on substance unless it's thanks to media dishonesty. Two of the most dubious icons who continue to garner liberal endorsements are Jane Fonda and Hillary Clinton.

Last week Jane Fonda was presented with the American Film Institute's 42nd Life Achievement Award at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. For the life of me I can't imagine why. Did she get it for her Academy Award for Klute; her exercise videos; for looking great at 76; or for being a traitor? Let's face it; the Academy Awards are no longer about quality in performances. After all, Lee Marvin got it for a comedy western instead of Rod Steiger who gave an outstanding performance in The Pawnbroker. Julia Roberts received hers in 2000 for Erin Brokovich for cursing and showing her bra straps instead of Ellen Burstyn who acted her heart out in Requiem for a Dream. Fonda's award for Best Actress was given before she committed treason by giving aid and comfort to the enemy on her visit to Hanoi in 1972. I'm sure the sycophants who gushed about her at the AFI show were either ignorant of her past or diehard Kool-Aid drinkers. I've lost respect for all of them.

The popularity of her exercise videos may be due in part for the fact that most of those who bought the videos had no idea who "Hanoi Jane" was thanks to the mainstream media muting her past. The Vietnam Vets who've protested her public appearances are portrayed as right wing extremists instead of truth tellers by the MSM. For those who do not know about "Hanoi Jane" just Google her smiling picture sitting on a Viet Cong anti-aircraft gun. There may be false stories about what she said but the real ones can't be denied. She said publicly that the POW's were lying about being tortured and called them hypocrites. She made a half-hearted apology when Vietnam vets protested filming of one her films and explained that she was young and foolish. Oh really? Fonda was almost 35 when she went to Hanoi. I will never support any of her endeavors nor will I watch any of her movies or television shows. Besides, she really is not a very talented actress.

As bad as the absent-minded adulation afforded Fonda, it can't compare to that given to that other liberal icon-Hillary Clinton- who seems to be the Democrat's only feasible candidate for president in 2016.

When Hillary Clinton ran for senator of my state I researched her background to confirm if she was indeed the smartest woman in the world as she was being touted in the media by campaign promoters. Hillary Clinton's true character surfaced upon this research which completely belied what her campaign was selling. But they show that the pattern of lies, deceit, fabrications and unethical behavior was established long ago. Not many Americans even know about her misadventures with the Rose law firm and Madison Guaranty Bank nor have they heard of her fortuitous and dubious cattle futures, Travelgate and Whitewater and other overlooked scandals involving the woman whom many are still touting as the next president of the United States.

As far back as the Watergate hearings in 1972, Hillary Rodham's legal acumen was judged far less than perfect. Jerry Zeifman, general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee and a longtime Democrat who was her boss during the Watergate proceedings fired her. When asked why in an interview said, "Because she was a liar. She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality." In his book, 'Without Honor: The Impeachment of President Nixon and the Crimes of Camelot,' he goes into further details of why he would not recommend her for future positions of public and private trust.

During the Clinton administration when Hillary assumed her 'co-presidency' she was put in charge of the healthcare program proposed in 1993 and that same lack of ethics and dishonesty generated a 1997 lawsuit by the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons which cost taxpayers, $285,864.

The American voter has shown little interest in hard national news and the ignorance among young students in the world of liberal academia is massive. Ask the average student what is the significance of the name Chappaquiddick and watch their eyes glaze over. The Benghazi debacle which belongs squarely on Clinton's head is also dismissed thanks to a protective and negligent media. Not all media, however, is lamestream.

Ben Shapiro of Breitbart wrote two days after the murder of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans: "Why wasn't there better protection at the consulate? Because that's the way Secretary of State Clinton wanted it; the State Department posted no Marines to the consulate. It was staffed instead by those Libyan "security" forces. The consulate also had "no bulletproof glass, reinforced doors or other features common to embassies."

Yet this woman who couldn't provide security for her diplomat and an embattled consulate is being pushed to oversee our national security? We have to take notice of the real Hillary Clinton's political composition. It is pure Saul Alinsky whom she so admired that her senior thesis at Wellesley College was "There Is Only the Fight: An Analysis of the Alinsky Model."

She believes that a strong government is the answer to everything even raising our children. Her book, "It Takes a Village" advocated a society which meets all of a child's needs. Parental rights are secondary to that of society in general. This statist view is endemic among the left wing and the mainstream media and was exposed by MSNBC host, Melissa Harris-Perry who reiterated this doctrine saying, "So part of it is we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities."

A recent book by a retired secret service agent, Within Arm's Length, reveals that Ms. Clinton has a foul mouth and is very bad-tempered. That same persona was revealed in an American Spectator article by David Brock in 1992. So many smart, educated people on the left and they can't figure out that Hillary was a bad lawyer, an inconsequential senator and a horrific Secretary of State.

The unvarnished truth is that they love Hillary because they feel she has been strong for surviving Bill's infidelity and scandals. The reality is that Hillary would never have achieved anything of substance on her own if she hadn't been married to Bill.
