And now for the important news ....
By Argus Hamilton
Dallas Cowboy Terrell Owens promised Thursday that this year's team will be quite a show under Bill Parcells. Under him, the Cowboys play hard and avoid all drug or alcohol or sex scandals. For tax reasons they try to mirror whoever is president.
Al Gore promoted his movie An Inconvenient Truth last weekend in Los Angeles, where he was given a party. He never looked so happy. They brought out a big cake and he made a wish and blew out the candles, and Florida broke off and floated away.
Saddam Hussein declared Thursday he's on a hunger strike in his Baghdad jail. He is protesting the slaying of three of his defense lawyers by gunmen. He never should have let them fly to Los Angeles and test drive their new cars on the freeway.
NASA scheduled the liftoff of the Space Shuttle Discovery for July 1 over the objections of the flight engineers. They say it's not safe to fly. It's such an incredible gamble they're moving the launching pad to Nevada to make sure it's legal.
The House of Representatives postponed a vote Wednesday to renew the Voting Rights Act, first passed forty years ago. It's no longer about disenfranchising black people. Today's protesters are being led by Martin Luther and the Mambo Kings.
