Why do we ignore home grown terrorism?
http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | Americans think of terrorists as Muslim extremists blowing up buildings or cars to push their warped view of religion. But there is another terrorist movement growing right here in America.
Did you know that a terrorist organization in America has been responsible for terror attacks that have resulted in $45 million in damage since 1997? Well, if not, you're not alone. The Earth Liberation Front has burned down homes on Long Island, Colorado, Indiana, and several other states in a twisted effort to stop urban sprawl. Most recently, the Earth Liberation Front burned down residences outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The E.L.F. has also burned down lumber companies, attacked banks, fast food restaurants and car dealers who had the nerve to sell SUVs. One Colorado attack was spawned by the defeat of a statewide environmental measure voters rejected at the ballot box. So like most terrorists, the Earth Liberation Front terrorizes law-abiding citizens because their views are too extreme to be embraced by the rest of us. Law enforcement officials must work harder to crack down on these eco-terrorists, before Americans get caught in the crossfire. There are plenty of reasons to be concerned with the environmental crisis that is upon us. Water and air quality continues to worsen. Urban sprawl is making life in most major American cities unlivable. And the population explosion we are facing is frightening.
But more frightening right now is the specter of eco-terrorists blowing up American's homes, or businesses, or SUVs-all in defense of Mother Nature. It's time for police to crack down... and bring these people to justice.
