This column is an exception. Against a backdrop of deliberate media misrepresentation about what occurred in Wisconsin last week, here are two letters. The first one was sent to Republican Senators last Wednesday night after they voted to limit the power of public service unions in that state. The second one was sent to a private business owner the following day, by the executive Director of the Wisconsin Professional Police association. Keep two things in mind when you read them: first, progressive accusations of conservative hate speech following the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords and the need to "tone down" such rhetoric; and second, that the police are the first line of defense for American citizens. Letter Number One, unedited: "Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes [sic]will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for more information on possible scenarios in which you will die." "WE want to make this perfectly clear. Because of your actions today and in the past couple of weeks I and the group of people that are working with me have decided that we've had enough. We feel that you and the people that support the dictator have to die. We have tried many other ways of dealing with your corruption but you have taken things too far and we will not stand for it any longer. So, this is how it's going to happen: I as well as many others know where you and your family live, it's a matter of public records. We have all planned to assult [sic] you by arriving at your house and putting a nice little bullet in your head. However, we decided that we wouldn't leave it there. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the message to you since you are so "high" on Koch and have decided that you are now going to single handedly make this a dictatorship instead of a demorcratic [sic] process. So we have also built several bombs that we have placed in various locations around the areas in which we know that you frequent. This includes, your house, your car, the state capitol, and well I won't tell you all of them because that's just no fun. Since we know that you are not smart enough to figure out why this is happening to you we have decided to make it perfectly clear to you. If you and your goonies feel that it's necessary to strip the rights of 300,000 people and ruin their lives, making them unable to feed, clothe, and provide the necessities to their families and themselves then We Will "get rid of" (in which I mean kill) you. Please understand that this does not include the heroic Rep. Senator that risked everything to go against [sic] what you and your goonies wanted him to do. We feel that it's worth our lives to do this, because we would be saving the lives of 300,000 people. Please make your peace with G0d as soon as possible and ay goodbye to your loved ones we will not wait any longer. YOU WILL DIE!!!!" Water Street Milwaukee, WI 53202 SENT VIA FASCIMILE AND REGULAR MAIL "Dear Mr. Ellis: As you undoubtedly know, Governor Walker recently proposed a "budget adjustment bill" to eviscerate public employees' right to collectively bargain in Wisconsin. .." "As you also know, Scott Walker did not campaign on this issue when he ran for office. If he had, we are confident that you would not be listed among his largest contributors. As such, we are contacting you now to request your support." "The undersigned groups would like your company to publicly oppose Governor Walker's efforts to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for public employees in Wisconsin. While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not respond to this request by that date, we will assume that you stand with Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters, and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities." "In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining, please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the goods and services provided by your company. However, if you join us, we will do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table. Wisconsin's public employee unions serve to protect and promote equality and fairness in the workplace. We hope you will stand with us and publicly share that ideal." Keith Patt, Executive Director Green Bay Education Association Bob Richardson, President Dane County Deputy Sheriffs Association Dan Frei, Prersident Madison Professional Police Officers Association A death threat serious enough that State Department of Justice is investigating it--along with "several" others made to Republican legislators, followed by a thinly-veiled threat of extortion by public service union police official sent to the director of a financial services company. An extortion letter co-signed by other police, firefighting and teacher union "leaders" as well. Take a good, long look at progressivism minus the mainstream media filter, my fellow Americans. And while you're at it, remember that their political water-carriers in the Democratic party ran away and hid to prevent a vote on the issue. Let's see if even one of those legislators offers an iota of criticism regarding either letter. Let's see if the president decries the politics of hate and extortion. Let's see if anyone in the mainstream media has the integrity to present even the second letter to public, even if they completely dismiss the first one as the rantings of a "lone wolf" like they do with Islamic terrorists.
