French president Jacques Chirac dined with President Bush on
Monday. All the formalities were observed. The place setting was
arranged in the traditional French manner placing forks on the
left, spoons on the right and knives in the back.
Iran was hit by a powerful earthquake Tuesday that shook
buildings and homes and mosques in Teheran. The earthquake
couldn't have come at a worse time. It only confirmed the Bush
Administration's core belief that it's doing the L-rd's work.
John Edwards vowed Monday that if he runs for president, he
will not make G-d a campaign issue. Nor should he. The difference
between a personal injury lawyer and G-d is that G-d only asks for
ten percent and knows if the whiplash is for real.
Senator John McCain, while in Kabul Monday, called for a
permanent U.S. military presence in Afghanistan. So it's come to
this. America may have to take over the heroin trade to find an
arthritis pain medication that won't give you a heart attack.
Chris Rock warmed up his Oscars monologue at the Comedy
Store in Los Angeles Saturday. It was risky. The crowd had such
terrible cabin fever after six nights of rain they were willing to
sit in a sixty year-old nightclub on the side of a hill.
Los Angeles continued Tuesday to be battered by rainstorms
causing mudslides and flooding in the suburbs. Grown men were
shown on the news crying. They can't believe they lost their
houses and they don't even have a trophy wife to show for it.
