And now for the important news ....
By Argus Hamilton
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Malaki ordered his fellow Shiites to give up their weapons or face all-out war Wednesday. It's a threat against his own people. He really stuck his neck out, which in Iraq can get you a lot of face time on YouTube.
Congress passed a forty-percent raise in the minimum wage Wednesday. The same day, the California Assembly considered universal health insurance. A year from now, geography textbooks in Mexico will identify America as the Merry Old Land of Oz.
Congress reached bipartisan agreement Monday to clock off early to watch the Ohio State-Florida game. The U.S. Capitol is where thieves and slackers and sex addicts run wild in the halls without fear of arrest. There is also a negative side.
Malibu residents returned to charred homes Wednesday to view the destruction caused by wildfires fueled by high winds. Many homeowners were away in Las Vegas. If they hadn't grabbed a tree branch they might have gone all the way to Albuquerque.
