The Miss America Pageant will be telecast live from the
Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday. The preliminary events are
underway. The competition gets closer and closer as each
contestant is awarded to a high roller by the casino host.
U.S. Olympic skier Bode Miller apologized on 60 Minutes for
statements he made admitting he skied competitively while drunk.
He wasn't very discreet. Every time he won a race he insisted on
having the St. Bernard on the medal stand with him.
Los Angeles beaches were closed Monday from a sewage spill
that contaminated the South Bay. It's a seasonal event. Movie and
television producers have been pacing up and down the beaches for
days waiting for the arrival of the final drafts.
Senator Arlen Specter startled Republicans Sunday by saying
that impeachment might be a remedy for illegal wiretapping. He was
very careful. He didn't say the word impeachment on the telephone,
he said it on ABC News where no one would hear him.
Arnold Schwarzenegger proposed spending hundreds of billions
on roads, schools and health care. The money is available. The
California state revenue windfall reported last week is the first
indication that Bob Hope's will has cleared probate.
Democrats introduced a bill Tuesday to stop Internet data
banks from selling cell phone calling records. This is big.
Democrats have decided to make their stand against the Bush
administration on behalf of the privacy rights of adulterers.
Hillary Clinton delivered a pitch for the labor vote at a Martin Luther King Day speech in Harlem. Her speech was specific. She demanded a living wage of twelve dollars per hour for American workers, which works out to six hundred rupees.
